Privacy

This page explains, in plain language, what information BabyNameScore uses and how.

Information we use

The name or names you enter when you request a report — a first name, and optionally a middle name and surname. We also collect aggregate, privacy-focused analytics on how the site is used, and, if you choose to save a report by email, the email address you provide for that.

How we use it

We use the information you provide to operate and improve BabyNameScore, including the quality, reliability, and efficiency of the service. Reports you generate are stored so they remain available. Analytics never include the names you enter — only structural information, like which features get used.

Recipients

Your report is generated with the help of a third-party AI provider — only the first name is ever sent to it, never a surname or middle name, and never bundled with any other identifying detail. The site is hosted, and reports are stored, on third-party infrastructure providers whose job is running the servers and database, not making editorial decisions about your data. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.

International processing

Some service providers may process information in countries other than the one you're using BabyNameScore from. We only work with providers who need that information to do the specific job described above.

Cookies & browser storage

We don't use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Your browser may keep a short-lived, on-device copy of a report you just generated (so the page can redisplay it without an extra request) — this clears automatically when you close the tab. If you save a name to a shortlist, that list is kept in your browser only, until you clear it yourself.

Security & minimization

We only send a provider the specific information it needs to do its one job — for example, the AI step never receives a surname, because it never needs one. Current report links use opaque, randomly generated identifiers rather than names.

Your rights

You can ask what information we hold connected to a report you generated, ask us to correct it, or ask about how it's used — reach us the same way as any other privacy question, below, and we'll respond directly.

What we don't do

We don't require an account to use BabyNameScore. We don't sell personal data. We don't run cross-site advertising trackers.

Who this is for

BabyNameScore is a general-audience research tool, not a service directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, and we don't verify the age of visitors.

Your choices

We do not currently have a self-service way to remove a report. We do not claim reports expire automatically, because they don't today. If you'd like a report removed, or have any other privacy question, contact us at whitelandstudios@proton.me.

Updates to this page

We may revise this page as the product changes. It always reflects our current practice; we don't maintain a public version history of past wording.
